Following the success of her debut children’s book The Boy at the Back of the Class, award-winning author, Being the Story speaker, member of our spokespersons network and dear friend of sounddelivery Onjali Rauf has just released her second book. Like her first book, The Star Outside My Window is told through the eyes of a child, it is a story that explores the subtle faces and endless impacts of domestic violence and ‘celebrates the power of hope and resilience’.

Over the last six months we’ve been fundraising to pilot a programme for a Spokesperson Network of people with direct experience of some of our big social issues. These people are experts by experience and their ideas and solutions can and should be helping to create change. We are now thrilled to launch our pilot programme.
It is at this time of year that the team at sounddelivery usually start to announce details for Being the Story, our immersive storytelling event which takes place in the Autumn. Today I have to share the news that we’re taking a pause on the event this year.
We did it! Together we’ve raised as of today just over £11,022. The final amount after crowdfunding fees will be around £10,700 which is fantastic. This is the first time we’ve ever led a crowdfunder and I’ve learnt a huge amount in the process (perhaps a blog for another time). We had a really ambitious goal which was revised to £30,000. But we opted not to do an all or nothing crowdfunding campaign and instead work with the donations received. We know that the funding to date can make a real impact already. It will mean that there are things that we wanted to do that can’t be funded but I’m only looking ahead at what support can be offered.
