As the UK lockdown continues in the fight to deal with COVID-19, new challenges have arisen for some of the most vulnerable people in society and we have become more reliant than ever on the frontline workers that hold up our services and support our communities. This series of ThinkIns is all about listening to the unheard stories of the coronavirus pandemic.
Helen Jones is the CEO of Leeds Gypsy and Traveller Exchange which is a West Yorkshire based membership organisation for Gypsy and Traveller people. Leeds GATE offers support and development activities, as well as raising awareness of the needs and assets of the communities. In this guest blog Helen shares the largely unheard impact that Covid-19 is having for the UK’s Gypsy and Traveller communities.

Last Friday Jude was invited to join a TEDxLondon #ConversationsBeyondBorders which featured Jude in conversation with TEDxLondon curator Maryam Pasha who we work with on Being the Story – and Human Rights lawyer Sangeetha Iengar. It was an opportunity for Jude to share what she’s been hearing from grassroots organisations working on the front-line during this pandemic and how important it is to be active allies – listen to communities and ask what support they need.
