Psychotherapist and Founder of the Somali Mental Health Network, Salma Mohamed, is working to make mental health support more culturally responsive, accessible and meaningful for Somali communities.
Through the Somali Mental Health Network, Salma brings together mental health professionals, community organisations, healthcare services and wider partners to strengthen mental health literacy, improve early prevention and help shape services that better understand culture, faith, identity and lived experience.
Through our Spokesperson Leadership Programme, Salma is developing the skills to bring these conversations to wider public, professional and media audiences.

“The day I had to save my daughter’s life, changed the course of mine”
When Kristine Reilly-Blake’s daughter experienced multiple life-threatening asthma attacks, she found herself asking a question that nobody else seemed to be asking: could their home be making her ill?
What began as a mother’s determination to protect her child has since evolved into a career dedicated to transforming how the UK approaches housing, health and indoor air quality. Today, Kristine is recognised as a leading voice in medically important remediation, healthy buildings and indoor environmental health, working across housing, construction, healthcare and policy to drive meaningful change.

Her journey, born from her own experience of navigating a system that often fails those it aims to protect, is driven by a deep commitment to shifting the focus from crisis management to genuine prevention.

When Amy Thompson was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) shortly after her 21st birthday, her life changed overnight. Alongside coming to terms with her diagnosis, she quickly realised how few spaces existed for young adults navigating life with a hidden disability.
Rather than accept that gap, Amy set out to change it.

“Isaac’s idea to give away free food on our driveway now feeds 5,000 people a year.”
When nine-year-old Isaac suggested giving away free food from his family’s driveway, nobody imagined where it would lead. Six years later, what began with an old pop-up greenhouse is now a six-site food bank supporting 5,000 people each year across Redditch. Oksana Kalala is the Founder and Managing Director of New Arrivals CIC, a grassroots charity which supports refugees and migrants and their integration into the UK.
Drawing on her own lived experience, Oksana set out to help others have a less turbulent start in a new country. As one of our 2026 spokespeople, she hopes to gain the confidence, skills and experience to further amplify and support others.
