Salma Mohamed

Salma Mohamed is a Somali integrative psychotherapist, community educator, mental health activist, and wellbeing leader based in Sheffield, whose work focuses on mental health inequalities faced by war-torn communities and on prevention. Her passion lies in bridging mental health, culture, faith, and social change.

With an academic background in Educational Psychology (BSc), grassroots advocacy work, and advanced training in integrative psychotherapy for children and young people (MBACP), she brings both clinical insight and community-rooted understanding to her work. Her lived experience between the UK and abroad has deepened her awareness of identity, displacement, intergenerational trauma, and the complexities many minoritised communities face when navigating wellbeing across cultures and language divides.

She delivers therapy, training, and workshops in schools, community organisations, and faith spaces, and is the founder of the Somali Mental Health Network. Through both her growing online platform and in-person public work, she uses her voice to challenge stigma, advocate for underrepresented communities, and create pathways for healing, leadership, and systemic change.

"I am beyond thrilled and deeply honoured to be selected for the 2026 Spokesperson Leadership Programme. This opportunity means a great deal to me, and I am excited to grow, contribute, and use my voice to create a meaningful impact for me and the Somali community I serve. Bring it on!"
