By her own admission, Ellie has had her share of tough times, made questionable life choices, and battled with her own personal “weirdisms.” However, through adversity, she has also witnessed growth – both in herself and others – serving as a reminder that even the hardest challenges can lead to meaningful change and deeper connections.
Losing her dad to suicide in 2013 led Ellie to seek peer support for her grief, which opened up a new path for her. Since then, she has supported both individuals and organisations in developing services that make a real difference in the community. She supports those bereaved by suicide through Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide and co-founded Voices – People with Living Experience of Suicide, in partnership with Hampshire County Council. Ellie is also involved in initiatives focused on suicide prevention, domestic abuse and self-harm, helping to shape services and support for those affected.
