We’ve had a busy week including a film screening of Refugee Diaries, been to events around International Women’s Day, visited the Forgiveness Project’s thought provoking exhibition The F Word at the Oxo Gallery (a must see) and published our March e-news.
Here’s our weekly roundup of things we think our sounddelivery network would want to know about. From great examples of charity digital storytelling to compelling programmes on TV.
Wednesday marked International Women’s Day 2017 and we loved this year’s theme #BeBoldForChange which is at the heart of the work we do at sounddelivery in amplifying the voices of women to help create change around women’s issues. We are privileged to be able to work and meet incredible women who have shared their powerful personal stories. In this guest blog (her first) founder of BehindBras Barbara Burton shares her story and how she is using lingerie to support women from the prison gate into work.
2. A Killing in My Family
This week Channel 4 broadcast A Killing in My Family, produced by Dragon Fly working alongside charity Winston’s Wish. The documentary put a spotlight on the support given to children and families bereaved by murder or manslaughter. It was upsetting, but powerful watching as we saw the bereaved children supported by Winston’s Wish share their stories of loss as part of their healing. Catch up on it here, and have tissues at the ready.
3. Good ‘Uns
#GivingTuesday has created Good ‘Uns a series of stories of ordinary people doing amazing things for a charity or cause they love. We love the idea of sharing stories to celebrate the great work done within the charity and social sectors. The series features a great variety of good ‘uns from Solomon who runs Brixton’s soup kitchen, to student campaigner Jodie to Taban who set up women’s charity The Lotus Flower. Take a look at the stories here.
4. iAnimal
Animal charity Animal Equality have created an immersive experience into the lives of farmed animals. Using virtual reality and 360 video viewers can surround themselves with farmed animals and the commentary provided by ambassador actress Amanda Abbington highlights some of the cruelties battery farmed animals undergo. It’s interesting to see different applications of VR in charity campaigning.
5. #BankingForGood
At sounddelivery we don’t normally share banking highlights but our friends at Charity Bank have just launched a new campaign #BankingForGood to urge us to invest ethically. 74% of people don’t know how their bank uses or invests their money, Charity Bank is an ethical bank that supports charities to build affordable homes, open a safe house for victims of domestic violence, support disadvantaged young people.
Added Extra:
Don’t miss War Child this Sunday 10.30pm on Channel 4. A documentary from Lightbox Media, War Child shares the stories of 4 children over the course of a year. Through their eyes, and in their words, we gain a unique insight into the impact of war on vulnerable young minds.
Do keep us updated with what you think I should be finding out more about.
And if you like what you read – do help us by sharing it and spreading the word
