1. Cathy

Last night we went to see Cardboard Citizen’s latest play ‘Cathy’ a new forum theatre piece that was inspired by Ken Loach’s iconic Cathy Come Home. The play powerfully explored homelessness today and the forum element allowed the audience and cast to circumnavigate the issues and potential solutions that could be explored in tackling the UK’s housing crisis and widespread risk of homelessness. The play will be touring theatres, prisons and hostels until February 2017, we’d definitely recommend catching it if you can and do spread the word!

2. Young, Gifted and Blocked

We love this video for Let Us Learn by Just for Kids Law outlining the injustice that those who want to learn and are gifted are being blocked because of their backgrounds. Thousands of ambitious young people are blocked from university because they don’t qualify for student loans. The Let Us Learn campaign calls for universities to create scholarships and bursaries so they can progress academically and have the same experiences as their peers.

3. Who is Louis Delage?

An ad agency used their digital marketing expertise to create a fake Instagram account to spread an important message. The French agency created the account for Addict Aide’s ‘Like My Addiction’ an awareness campaign highlighting alcohol addiction amongst young people. The photos shared were seen to be completely normal, alike to any other young woman’s but as it was revealed as an awareness campaign it was outlined how normalised it has become to be pictured constantly consuming alcohol.

4. Battling Cancer with Confidence

This video shares the amazing work from make-up artist Laura, who works with cancer patients in her spare time to do their make-up and give them tips and tricks in order to restore their confidence whilst battling cancer. Laura works with charity Look Good, Feel Better which is the only international cancer support charity providing practical and very effective free services for women and teenagers struggling with the visible side effects of cancer treatment.

5. Act of Kindness

We love this film showing the power of random acts of kindness. It shows the impact that a small gesture can have on strangers and also those around you and the benefits that come from supporting those in your community. It definitely made us want to go out and perform a random act of kindness.
