Social Media Basics

social media basics training

Using social media applications such as blogs, Facebook and Twitter can be an incredibly effective way for you to reach new audiences, involve supporters, build strong relationships and even raise money. It can help organisations to move from simply broadcasting marketing messages to having genuine two-way conversations with supporters.

But if you’re just getting to grips with social media, the options available can be a bit overwhelming. Our one-day Social Media Basics workshop will help you understand the jargon and give you hands-on experience in areas including blogging, social networking, wikis and social bookmarks.

sounddelivery training is all about learning-by-doing, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to try out social media applications and see how they can be applied to your organisation. The day will focus on free or inexpensive applications that you can easily use within your organisation.

What you will learn

By the end of the day you will understand:

  • what social media offers and how to use it as part of the communications and fundraising mix
  • how to set up a blog
  • how to use Facebook groups and pages
  • how to start using Twitter
  • how to find and engage new audiences
  • how to plan your social media strategy.

How your organisation will benefit

A sound understanding of social media applications will help your organisation to:

  • reach new audiences through different social media platforms
  • join in with online conversations about your organisation and issues related to your work
  • promote and showcase your work and campaigns online
  • introducing new fundraising tools to your websites and social media applications
  • communicate directly with supporters, service users, stakeholders and volunteers.

What participants say

“Relevant, practical and very clear. Gave me confidence, ideas and inspiration!” Michelle Bell, BAAF
