Thames Reach

Mar 31st, 2009 • Category: Case studies

Thames Reach is a charity which helps homeless and vulnerable people in London. We worked with the charity on its GROW (Giving Real Opportunities for Work) scheme – a one-year training and development programme that enables former homeless people to get a job within the sector, become financially independent and go on to help and support other homeless people.

Project: interviews, podcasts and audio slideshow

In 2007 Thames Reach commissioned us to record interviews with their staff and GROW trainees, to highlight the impact of the project on the organisation and to share best practice. We recorded a wide-ranging series of interviews with formerly homeless people involved in the training and development programme as well as Thames Reach staff.

Dennis describes the difference the Grow scheme made to him:

The project was a fantastic way of capturing the stories of people whose lives have been turned around through their involvement in GROW. We used the recorded material to produce a series of features for a web-based ‘toolkit’ to share best practice with other organisations.  This material was featured as part of an audio slideshow for societyguardian.co.uk and also featured on the BBC London website.
