FAB Camps – holidays for bereaved military families

Families who have lost a loved one in military service are spending their summer holidays together as part of a project to support bereaved children and their remaining parent. Families’ Activity Breaks – also know as FAB camps – are activity holidays run by the Ministry of Defence in partnership with YHA (Youth Hostel Association). The aim of the camps is to provide a safe and nurturing atmosphere for families to deal with their grief and meet with other families who have been through a similar experience.

During the first week of May sounddelivery secured media coverage for a cycle ride raising awareness of FAB camps – a partnership between YHA and the MOD providing bereavement holidays for military families. sounddelivery contributes to Woman’s Hour on Radio 4

sounddelivery works alongside Radio 4 producers to create an audio feature for Woman’s Hour. Interviews carried out for a YHA project are used in the programme as part of a larger item about the provision of support for army widows.
