Building awareness around the advocacy services OPAAL provides and the impact these have had on beneficiaries has been key in amplifying the impact of their organisation. We have provided social media training and storytelling consultancy support for the team at OPAAL including staff, trustees and members over several years initially on behalf of the Big Lottery Fund as part of their Silver Dreams funded programme and subsequently we have delivered training support to OPAAL through the Big Assist programme. As a small team with a wide range of stakeholders they have a big voice. We have worked with them at the early stages of their journey to develop their social media activity and encouraged their work around collecting advocacy stories of older people affected by cancer. Storytelling has now become an integral part of their communications work and there is a real belief that this work has led them to win further funding.
Sounddelivery worked with us to develop training and consultancy for exactly what we needed. At the end of the process we have an up-skilled workforce and Trustee Board and have developed an action plan to implement all that we’ve learned. Jude at sounddelivery is a joy to work with. I believe that the work we have done – encouraged and supported by sounddelivery to document our work using storytelling has played an important role. I’m convinced our success with the project blog played it’s part in the Silver Dreams Team inviting us to apply for the £1million Flagship fund which we won. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts for ALL your support, you’ve really helped us put our work out there.Marie McWilliams, OPAAL
